How multiplication table works
A multiplication table is a grid that shows the product of two numbers. The row and column headers are the factors (1, 2, 3, ...) and each cell contains their product, so the cell at row 7 and column 8 contains 56.
Reading across a single row gives the times table for that number — the 7 row reads 7, 14, 21, 28 and so on. Reading down a column does the same for the column's number, because multiplication is commutative (a x b = b x a).
Choose a size from 1 up to 20 and the tool builds an N x N grid. The diagonal from top-left to bottom-right contains the square numbers (1, 4, 9, 16...), which is a useful visual check that the table is correct.
