How gpa calculator works
Grade Point Average (GPA) summarizes your grades into a single number on a 4.0 scale. Each letter grade maps to grade points: A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on down to F = 0.0.
This calculator weights each course by its credit hours. For every course it multiplies the grade points by the credits, sums those values, then divides by the total credits. A 3-credit A (12 points) and a 4-credit B+ (13.2 points) give 25.2 points over 7 credits, or a 3.60 GPA.
Enter one course per line as "grade credits" — for example "A 3" or "B+ 4". If you omit the credits, the tool assumes 1 credit. It accepts A, A-, A+, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, and F.

How is GPA calculated?

What is the 4.0 scale?
A grading scale where A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, and F = 0.0, with plus/minus steps of 0.3 (for example A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3). This tool uses that scale.
What if a course has no credit hours?
If you omit the credits, the tool treats the course as 1 credit. To weight courses correctly, include the credit hours for each one, for example "A 3".
Does this support plus and minus grades?
Yes. It accepts A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, and F. Enter them exactly as shown, such as "B+ 4".
