How stopwatch works
This stopwatch counts up from zero the moment you press Start. It measures elapsed time to a hundredth of a second and shows it as minutes:seconds.centiseconds, switching to an hours:minutes:seconds view automatically once you pass the one-hour mark. Pause stops the count and Start resumes it from where you left off, so you can take breaks without losing your place. Reset clears everything back to zero.
While the stopwatch is running, press Lap to record a checkpoint. Each lap stores two numbers: the split (how long that individual lap took) and the cumulative total at the moment you pressed the button. The tool then flags your fastest and slowest laps and shows your average lap time, which is handy for interval training, cooking steps, timed quizzes or any repeatable task you want to compare across rounds.
The stopwatch reads your device's clock, and every displayed time is calculated from real timestamps rather than by counting screen updates. That means the total stays accurate even if the browser throttles the display while the tab is in the background — when you come back, the time shown is correct. Everything runs locally in your browser: no data is sent anywhere, and the tool keeps working with no internet connection after the page loads.
