How class hour cost calculator works
The credit-hour standard says one credit means roughly one scheduled hour of class per week, so a term’s contact hours are credits × weeks: 15 credits over a 15-week term is 225 hours of actual instruction. Divide total cost (tuition + fees) by those hours and every lecture hour has a price tag.
A $9,500 term over 15 credits and 15 weeks works out to $42.22 per contact hour — and a single 3-credit course, weighted by its share of the credits, costs $1,900 for its 45 scheduled hours. The calculator also reports cost per credit ($633.33 here) and cost per week, so part-time loads, extra courses, and dropped classes can be sanity-checked at a glance.
These numbers are averages across your whole load, which is exactly what makes them useful: every class hour you attend consumes the same slice of tuition, whether it is a lecture hall of 300 or a seminar of 12. Fees are included by default because they are part of what you pay to sit in the seat — set them to zero only if you want tuition alone.
